Ancient Judean Coin Mezuzah

Some mezuzahs feel newly made. This one looks as though it carries a story. The Ancient Judean Coin Mezuzah combines a textured pewter mezuzah case with a warm copper medallion inspired by ancient Jewish coinage. Its curved profile and timeworn finish give the vintage mezuzah cover an old-world presence without making it feel overly ornate.

Ancient Judean Coin Mezuzah with Hebrew Lettering

The copper-toned coin motif creates the focal point, standing out against the irregular silver surface like a small artifact set into the metal. Raised Hebrew lettering runs down the front and reads שומר דלתות ישראל, Shomer Daltot Yisrael, meaning “Guardian of the doors of Israel.”

Rather than polishing away every variation, the design uses texture, darkened recesses, and contrasting metals to create depth. It feels at home among our traditional mezuzahs, especially for someone drawn to Jewish history and classic Judaica.

The substantial metalwork also distinguishes it from smoother contemporary styles. Explore additional pewter mezuzah cases or browse the warmer finishes found among our copper mezuzahs.

Add a 4-Inch Kosher Scroll to This Mezuzah Case

The Ancient Judean Coin Mezuzah may be ordered as a case alone or paired with a handwritten Kosher Mezuzah Scroll. When a scroll is purchased with the case, our team can carefully roll and insert the klaf before shipping.

Available traditions include Ashkenazi Beis Yosef mezuzah scrolls and scrolls written according to Sephardic script tradition. Our guide to what is inside a mezuzah explains the role of the handwritten parchment in greater detail.

For a protected exterior doorway, seal the back opening carefully to help prevent moisture from reaching the klaf. Browse our mezuzah tape and adhesives for suitable sealing options.
